We are often asked the difference between Rapid Raft 1 and Rapid Raft 2.
The Rapid Raft’s original purpose was for rapid water crossings. While air retention was extremely good, Version 1 would slowly lose air over several hours, requiring 2-3 puffs on the one-way valve every few hours.
The popularity among kayakers and all-day use cases took us back to the drawing board. Version 2 features a new closure system, which while may not appear to be much different, now retains air for several days. We’ve achieved this by a combination of a slightly different construction and a lighter weight, stickier material at the opening, creating a tighter seal.
